Right - MUST write something!

Hello there. No posts for several months. I am having a problem with this. Possibly I am just not good at it, I think.
There is a need for a catch up since the last post.
So there was Appledore and the kiln.
Then the Contemporary Craft Fair at Bovey Tracey just after, followed by The Dartmoor Arts Summer School in July.
We didn't do much in August except for make things and take some weekends off.
In September we showed at Ceramics in the City, which as always, was great fun. However numbers were down this year. Possibly recession, possibly postal strike, possibly Boris closing central London to cars for a biking festival. Who knows....
This month we are busy for Xmas shows with several galleries.

We have just been up to Scotland for Mark Hearld & Friends at the Scottish Gallery. A really lovely show and well worth a visit if you are in Edinburgh.
We are also showing work at the Lund Gallery in North Yorkshire and at For Arts Sake in London as well as Ainscough Contemporary Art in Dartmouth & London.

Catching up on things - Appledore 2009 - Part 1

A fairly poor picture (from my phone) of a cob kiln / structure / sculpture that I built with the amazing assistance of many kind helpers during the Appledore Arts festival a couple of weeks ago. I took this photo on the sunday morning following a long day of firing the day before. It was a beautiful weekend - hot and sunny.
We (Beth & Saya, both students at Cardiff and myself) started work on the Tuesday before in bad weather. Rain & strong wind meant we had to weigh down the gazebo with stones from the beach, but it got better as the week progressed.

Many thanks to all who helped including Beth & Saya, all the students from North Devon College - Ros, Sue, Sam, Lizzie & John. Also Lucy Cobb, who came all the way from Reading to help and Fiona, the festival Co-ordinator and all at the Arts Festival too. It was great fun & we managed to fire the kiln up to a respectable temperature & get some good flames.

Will explain it all in more detail soon. I don't have many very good photos as I only had my phone but I hope to get more soon and will post them when I do.

Makers

A Little info about the new work at Makers in Taunton. We are in a transition period and are introducing some new porcelain work. We have always made Earthenware, but due to the arrival of Nuala, our daughter, we have changed some things. This being one of them.....
The show is on until the end of April and I hope we will be up there for at least one Saturday to keep an eye on things.
